Curry’s Mom Proud of His Gameplay But Not His Foul Mouth
After a disappointing performance in Game 2 of the NBA playoffs, superstar baller Steph Curry was all heart in Game 3. During the third quarter against the Houston Rockets, Curry was on fire, scoring 18 of his 35 points for the Golden State Warriors. But, it was after a particular drive to the basket through traffic, that Curry let his excitement get the best of him.
Yes, you heard that right. Curry pulled out his mouthguard and shouted “This is my f*$#ing house!” to the crowd. And, Mom Sonya was none too happy about it. During a post game interview about the game (which the Warriors took 126-85), Steph acknowledged the scolding.
“She already sent me two home videos, showing me the clip and playing it back,” Steph told ESPN. “She was telling me how I need to wash my mouth out, saying to wash it out with soap. It’s a message I’ve heard before.”
Raised a devout Christian, Curry explained that he was so excited by the play he “blacked out” but understands why Mom was upset.
“She’s right,” he said. “I gotta do better. I can’t talk like that.”
Just goes to show you’re never too old, too rich or too famous for Mom to put you in your place. And, it sounds like Sonya Curry is doing a thumbs-up job keeping her superstar son in check.
