Mom’s Heartfelt Thank You Goes Viral and Inspires Others to Pay It Forward
We’ve all been there, right? Hurrying through a store just to get through the “must-have” shopping list before our ticking time-bombs (otherwise knows as toddlers) go off. One eye on the shelves, one eye on the children, just hoping to avoid the imminent tears or the tantrums. That was Rebecca Paterson in Target last week. Unfortunately, Rebecca ran out of time before the meltdowns began. Fortunately, however, fellow-Mom Tiffany Guillory was also in the store.
As Paterson described it, her 2-year old and her 2-month old had virtually simultaneous meltdowns giving their Mom “the universal signal for ‘It’s Time to Leave Target Immediately.”
Dejected and frustrated, Paterson threw in the towel to head home. But, as she began placing her items back on the Target shelves, a Mom-angel named Tiffany Guillory approached her to offer help. Guillory, a fellow Mom also from Pearland, TX, had never met Paterson before but recognized her struggle. She offered to walk with the frazzled Mom and hold her toddler, so that Rebecca could finish her shopping.
“She walked with me while I got the essentials and kept hold of my toddler while he calmed down,” Paterson said.
Later that day, when she returned home and settled her children, Paterson posted a grateful message on a Moms group Facebook page.
“She saved me today moms!!! I am so sleep deprived and was running on empty. A little kindness and understanding goes a long way.”
Guillory, overwhelmed by the response to her act of kindness from people on social media, responded.
“I was just trying to do something nice from mom to mom, because I’ve been in that situation before,” she said. “I heard how frustrated she was, and I wanted to be her guardian angel on that day. I’m just hoping and praying that more people can be inspired by this story to do the same thing.”
