McKenna Pilling Mom Dorm Fail

Being a mom is hard, especially when you miss your daughter who is away at college, so you try to be funny and cool by surprising her in her dorm room, only to find out it’s not her dorm room. Yes, that actually happened to , an 18-year-old college student attending Utah State University. Her mom traveled from New York to help her pack up her dorm, and decided to surprise her, sending her a selfie while laying in what she thought was her bed and writing, “Look where I am! Where are you?” The only problem? It wasn’t McKenna’s bed. How did McKenna know? Well, those aren’t her sheets, but more importantly….she was actually in her dorm room when she got the text from her mom!

McKenna’s response is hysterical, “Where’s that? I’m in my dorm. Please tell me you’re not in someone else’s dorm.”

We can only imagine how funny it must have been when her mom realized she was in the wrong room, texted back, “I am in the wrong dorm omg,” and bolted out the door. Too bad there isn’t any video of that scene!

McKenna took a screenshot of the text exchange and shared it on Twitter where it immediately went viral. It’s been retweeted 17,000 times and Liked almost 36,000 times since it was posted on May 5th.

The story is also making the rounds on the Internet, and was featured on mom websites (like ours!) as well as Good Morning America and BuzzFeed.

We love that the mother daughter duo has a great sense of humor about the whole situation, and seem to be enjoying the spotlight over this major fail. McKenna shared the sweet photo above of she and her mom on Mother’s Day, and wrote, “Shout out to momma pilling for being hilarious and going viral on Twitter. Happy Mother’s Day, love you.”

According to McKenna’s tweet, “momma pilling at it again” we’re guessing this isn’t the first time she’s done something like this. Hopefully it won’t be the last, but we’re sure it will provide many hours of entertainment around the dinner table and at family gatherings for years to come!
