Little Girl’s Angry Mom Says Racist Whistle-Blower Deserves All She Gets
One side of the story claims that a little girl was just selling bottles of water to help raise money for a trip to Disneyland. Erin Austin says her 8-year old daughter never thought she would make any of her neighbors upset when she set up her water cooler outside. According to Austin, they had only been set up for about 15 minutes when the woman approached her, “saying she was trying to work and we were being too loud.”
The other side, that of neighbor Alison Ettel, claims that the little girl was yelling loudly in her attempts to sell the water. Ettel says the noise was distracting. So, she confronted Jordan’s mother about the yelling “after several hours.”
“I tried to be polite, but I was stern,” Ettel explained. “And I said, ‘Please, I’m trying to work. You’re screaming, you’re yelling, and people have open windows — it’s a hot day. Please keep it down.’” When Austin refused, Ettel threatened to call the police.
According to Ettel, she only pretended to make a phone call. But, Austin recorded her and shared the video to Instagram.
“Make this b— go viral like #bbqbecky she’s #permitpatty would you rather my daughter be out here getting into s— Fr cuz an 8 year old selling water in front of her apartment building where she’s lived her whole life is NOT a reason to call the Police 🤬🤬🤬.”
After the video went up, the viral backlash against Ettel was fast and furious. Accused of racism, she has received everything from nasty Facebook messages to death threats. In the wake of the escalating anger, the TODAY Show spoke to both women.
Regardless of her water sales, little Jordan Rogers is going to Disneyland. An anonymous donor offered four tickets so the family could enjoy the trip together. It appears that a lack of understanding from one stranger, led to generous kindness from another.
